Blessed for this mess originally started years ago, long before it became “Blessed for this mess”..
Angelman syndrome was the diagnosis my daughter Ava received when she was 1 1/2 years old, we were told she would never walk..never talk. & while we certainly couldn’t control the outcome of things medically within her we decided to focus on what we could control, our version of how we accepted this diagnosis, how we spoke to & over Ava, & how we chose to move once we got that diagnosis. We chose to accept the reality of medically being diagnosed but we chose not to accept it as what defined Ava, we chose to give our all in helping Ava thrive in a world that was not going to cater to her, we chose to move forward empowering her & encouraging her beyond what medically was spoken over her...
Today Ava is walking with pride & says a few words: Mama, papa, more
& because of our faith we had the vision to give the painful moments of this journey through being diagnosed a purpose!
Thus, ‘Blessed for this mess’ was created in podcast form. A weekly podcast where I as Ava’s mother share raw feelings, moments, battles & blessings of our journey. A podcast that has already brought forth so many blessings through other families enduring similar journeys or even those who aren’t walking a journey like ours but has found some form of impact or inspiration from them.
Because we have chosen to rewrite how we walk out our diagnosis & our perspective, it was pretty clear how important broadening that out to all of you was. Hence why we have expanded into this arena!
We wanted to acknowledge, but encourage others perspective on the circumstances of a diagnosis or even life in general... that’s why we knew it was vital to create this apparel line. We hope you embark on this journey with us & it inspires an empowerment in the circumstances you may be facing!
We all will have moments in life that will be a mess, but together we can learn how to be blessed for this mess! Xo
